Simulation Society of Nepal (SSN) is a non-governmental organization headquartered in Balaju-16, Kathmandu, established on 4 August 2019. SSN is Nepal’s only organization dedicated solely to simulation-based education and research in health care, working to improve the quality of care through simulation-based training, mentoring, and evidence generation.

SSN partners with government bodies, UN agencies, professional associations, and other development partners to strengthen the health workforce, with a particular focus on maternal and newborn health, resuscitation, emergency medical care, and nursing and midwifery education.

The Method

What is Simulation-Based Education (SBE)?

Simulation is a technique, not a technology, used to replace or amplify real experiences with guided experiences that evoke or replicate substantial aspects of the real world in a fully interactive manner. It facilitates learning through immersion, reflection, feedback, and practice, minus the risks inherent in a real-life experience.

SSN introduces SBE through a learner-centered model, the Circle of Learning, designed to close common gaps in Nepal’s health training: limited skills-based practice, team training, and training in decision-making and critical thinking. Each element below feeds into one outcome: actionable insights that improve patient care.

Strategic Technical Partner

Laerdal Global Health

SSN’s most strategic technical partnership. Laerdal Global Health, headquartered in Stavanger, Norway, is a global leader in simulation-based education, known for design, simplicity, affordability, and improving patient outcomes. Through this collaboration agreement, SSN co-implements simulation-based programs and draws on Laerdal’s international technical expertise, mentoring tools, and equipment, including remote support from Laerdal’s regional and global experts.
